Everyone is affected differently when they lose somebody close to them. At Teesside Hospice we offer bereavement support at a time and in a way that feels right for you.
How to access our counselling
You don’t have to go through bereavement alone. At Teesside Hospice we help adults and children come to terms with the loss of someone significant in their lives.
Our support is free to local people and you don’t have to have a connection to the hospice to access our services. It is available to both adults and children aged from 7 – 18 years.
If your life is being negatively affected by grief and loss and feel bereavement counselling could help you -
You can make an appointment with your GP or other health professional and ask them to make a referral for counselling. Once we receive this we will write to you to confirm you wish to go ahead.
Please note that our counselling service is busy so you should be prepared to be placed on a waiting list.
Or you can refer yourself by clicking the blue button to the right.
If you feel bereavement counselling could help a child -
You can make an appointment with their GP or other health professional and ask them to make a referral for a child. Once we receive this we will write to the child’s parent or carer to confirm you wish the referral to go ahead.
If you are a child’s parent or carer you can refer them yourself by clicking the blue button to the right.
For children aged under 7, research indicates support from someone close to them is most beneficial. We can provide help to a child’s parent/carer for them to support the child directly rather than receiving counselling from us.
