Our staff and volunteers are at the heart of everything we do, and their passion, care, and dedication are what make our hospice such a special place. To mark the week, we sat down with a few members of our team to ask what makes them happy at work.
Ian first came to us as part of our Wellbeing Centre, later spending time on our In-Patient Unit when he needed more specialist care. His husband, Tony, kindly shared their experience with us, reflecting on the support and respect they both received.
When 15-year-old Rafael was looking to do more with his weekends and gain new skills, he turned to volunteering. Now, after a year of volunteering in our charity shop, he’s built his confidence and met some great friends.
Craig has been a long-standing patient of our Lymphoedema Clinic and comes to us for intensive treatment. Despite the toll this can take, it’s something he always looks forward to thanks to the kindness, compassion and humour of our team.
Hospice care is more than you think – it’s love, kindness and friendship. Ahead of this year’s Hospice Care Week, we spoke to Margaret and Wayne, who formed a bond while both staying on our In-Patient Unit.
