“My name is Hilary Reynolds and I have been a Volunteer Receptionist at Teesside Hospice Fundraising Office for almost 9 years.
Before I became a volunteer, my husband and I had been members of the hospice lottery for a number of years. One year we were lucky enough to win the big 1st prize and staff from the hospice came to our house to present us with a cheque! Since retiring I had been thinking about volunteering, so when the team paid us a visit, it was the perfect opportunity to ask more about getting involved. They put me in touch with the Volunteer Coordinator and I’ve been at the hospice since.
When I first arrived at Teesside Hospice Fundraising Office I was made to feel very welcome by staff. My main job was typing thank you letters, then I moved on to more administrative duties such as entering information on the database, sorting the post, filing paperwork, filling envelopes and anything else that is asked of me.
I have always found the hospice to be a happy place to work and the staff are very appreciative of all the work the volunteers undertake. I would highly recommend to anyone interested in volunteering to help Teesside Hospice.
