This week we're focusing on why hospice care is important to our local community. If you've never needed a hospice, you may not know why they're needed and what they do. 

At Teesside Hospice, we provide specialist palliative care. Specialist palliative and end of life care is about so much more than just medicine. It's about symptom management, emotional wellbeing, mental health, spiritual needs and being their for the people who need us. 

Therefore, we're here to change lives across Teesside by supporting people and families who've been affected by a terminal illness. We help them make the most of every day, ensuring they receive the best possible care by creating experiences and memories that last a lifetime. 

Everybody gets treated as an individual, whether it's physical, mental or emotional support they need from us. We support people to stay as independent as possible for as long as possible. 

We're bringing people together. From patients, family and friends, to clinical team, counsellors, staff, volunteers and our fundraisers. We make sure that everyone gets to live well until the very end.

With hospital's over-run, especially after the last 18 months. We're here to provide the level of care no-one else can. This is provided by specialist medical care, clinical care, our community and funding. As a charity Teesside Hospice relies on the goodwill and support of local people by donating time and money, without this support we couldn't provide the highest level of care which we currently do. 

This Hospice Care Week, we wanted to share our knowledge and experience, and educate people about why we need hospice care in Teesside. We want to reduce pain and distress, empower people at the end of their life and making dying as comfortable as possible. And we want to show you how we do this. 

We will be sharing videos, images and information all week showing you what we're doing.
