Coronavirus: Visiting Your Loved Ones

During Coronavirus our focus is on the safety and well being of our patients, staff, volunteers and supporters, whilst continuing to provide vital services to local people who have a terminal illness.

We have introduced changes to our visiting policy, to protect the most vulnerable we are caring for.

We understand that this is a difficult time for families who have loved ones staying with us, but these changes have been brought in to protect our patients, staff and other visitors.

Visiting hours are from 2pm until 6pm. Visitors are restricted to patients bedrooms at this time, please don't wander into garden areas. 

We are asking 2 key identified visitors (the same 2 people, on every visit) to visit loved ones for visits lasting 1-2 hours per day. If both key identified visitors are from the same household, they may visit together. Each visitor must wear full PPE. 

Flexible visiting in the case of end of life can be discussed with our team. 

Unfortunately at this time, we can't have children visiting or accessing our grounds.

When coming to Teesside Hospice, please don't gather at the entrance, or in the car park, and maintain social distancing (at least 2 meters apart) at all times. Please use the entrance near the nurses station to enter the Inpatient Unit. Before entering the unit please ring the door bell at the gate or telephone the unit to access IPU. Visitors will also be temperature checked at each visit.

If you have had contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID 19 (or has symptoms), or you have any of the below symptoms and feel unwell, please don't enter the building:

• High temperature
• Sore throat
• Cough
• Breathing difficulties
• Loss of sense of smell/taste
• Diarrhoea

All visitors are kindly reminded to use the hand washing facilities before entering the Inpatient Unit.
