Meet Celia.

Celia shared with us how coming to Teesside Hospice has been a godsend in helping her journey with Bowel Cancer…

“My name’s Ceclia and I’m here at Teesside Hospice because I have bowel cancer. It was my Macmillan nurse's idea to come into the hospice, and at first I thought I wouldn’t be able to, and I couldn’t believe my luck when I got the chance to come in.

I was very apprehensive at first, but once I got here and saw the place, it seemed to have a calming feel about it that I couldn’t believe.

When I got told what complementary therapies were available here, I decided I wanted to have a pamper week. I’ve had my feet massaged, my hair washed and blowdried, and a head and shoulder massage which was amazing. When I came out of the therapy room I felt like I was walking on air!

There’s not enough words to express my thanks to the hospice. Thank you is such a small word, but if you mean it in your heart, I hope the nurses realise how grateful I am.

5 stars from me!"

Last year, our In-Patient Unit cared for 283 people living with a terminal illness just like Celia. Help us continue to provide specialist care to the people of Teesside in 2025 and leave a donation to your local hospice.
