Our amazing team of charity shop volunteers, like Katy, make a huge impact on Teesside Hospice and our services, keeping our shops running and raising vital funds.
Katy began volunteering in our Yarm charity shop to fulfil a lifelong goal, and has made some great friends since becoming part of the team:
Why did you choose to volunteer?
“Because when I was younger, my dream was actually to be a volunteer. So that was my dream, to life.”
What do you enjoy most about volunteering?
“The customers because the customers are so nice. And I’ve made some new friends when I'm working.
Yeah, I like the social side of it. A lot!”
What does volunteering in our shop involve?
“Putting, like, colours where there’s supposed to be colours, put them in the sizes together, and doing the tills.”
What would you say to anyone considering volunteering?
“I would say do the volunteering because it really does help. It really helps you get out and it makes you happy.
Just, if people tell you don't do it, ignore them. Just do it.”
