Janet’s Volunteering Story
Janet is one of our wonderful meal service volunteers, gifting her time to serve lunches to our in-patients. Here she shares how she became involved with Teesside Hospice, and what she enjoys about her role.
James was a regular listener and friend to Mark and John who run the ‘100 Things we learned from film’ podcast, and with an original £300 goal they smashed their fundraising and managed to raise an incredible £1,650!
Jenny shared, “During our challenge (Ullswater Way plus Dalemain Loop 26 miles) there were laughs, tears (emotional from me) but despite my nerves we made it round! Thank you to everyone for your kind words of encouragement, your well wishes, all your very generous donations and your support. I am completely overwhelmed. Thank you to Mark Plant and John Watson. We did it! This one's for you James!”
Thank you to Jenny who has continued to support our hospice in memory of her lovely brother James, you are amazing!

Whether you’re looking to gain new skills or build on those you already have, volunteering can be a great way to broaden your knowledge. For Charlotte, who volunteers in our People Team, it was about building on the knowledge she’d gained on a recent course.
