Volunteering can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience for many people.

Hear from one of our dedicated volunteers Gerry about how giving her time to Teesside Hospice’s Wellbeing Group has made a difference to her retirement journey.

“I'm a volunteer for the Outreach Group in the Wellbeing Centre at Teesside Hospice, where we offer massages, crafts and a safe space for people living with a terminal illness to come together and share their problems with each other. It’s a chance for people to share their problems, whether that be around their illness or just their everyday lives.

I’ve worked in palliative care for quite a long time, and when I retired I found that I had a lot of skills that I wasn’t putting to good use. A lot of people don't appreciate what a gap it leaves in their lives when they retire.

Being a volunteer for Teesside Hospice really helps me fill the void of being retired. So if you’re someone that’s friendly and open, this is the place you want to be!”

If you’re looking for a meaningful way to give back, meet new people, and use your skills to support those in need, why not consider volunteering with Teesside Hospice?

Whether you have a skill you know could benefit our hospice or simply want to make a difference to your local community, see how you can get involved today! Visit our volunteering page here.
