Janet’s Volunteering Story
Janet is one of our wonderful meal service volunteers, gifting her time to serve lunches to our in-patients. Here she shares how she became involved with Teesside Hospice, and what she enjoys about her role.
The team have worked so hard to dig out and redesign our front garden, creating a cottage-style space filled with bulbs, perennial plants, evergreens, and solar-powered lights.
They’ve also added a modern section with decorative stones, a beautiful sleeper archway, and a new feature area in front of our hospice logo, making our entrance more welcoming than ever for our patients, families, and visitors.
Thank you to the team at B&Q for donating your resources and time to to our hospice, it looks absolutely beautiful and we appreciate all of your support!

Previously, when Donna thought of the word hospice, she thought of dying – but that association changed after she became a patient. Donna shares how a stay on our In-Patient Unit has given her confidence and changed her misconceptions around hospice care.
