You may feel like you're just doing your bit, but the help you provide is vital. We understand how this can sometimes affect you physically, emotionally and financially and we are here to support you.
If you're caring for someone with a life limiting illness, we can support you. Come along to our drop-in service held every Thursday for an informal chat. We are open 10am-6pm, no appointment necessary.
We are working in collaboration with Dementia UK to provide an Admiral Nurse dedicated to palliative care for people living with dementia and their families. Carers looking after someone with dementia can contact our Admiral Nurse for further advice and support.
All of our services recognise the importance of caring for families and supporting them in their caring role. Carers looking after someone with a long-term illness can find out what support is available to help them at our Carers Group.
We offer a wide range of safe and natural complementary therapies at Teesside Hospice, which are also available to carers. It is also possible for carers to learn a massage technique that they can use to make their loved one feel more comfortable at home.
Caring for someone with a long-term illness can affect all aspects of life, as well as day-to-day activities. It can affect relationships, employment, income, housing and emotional well-being. Our Social Worker is here to help to minimise stress and improve the quality of life for all affected.
We also provide bereavement counselling for families dealing with the loss of someone close. Your bereavement does not have to be linked to Teesside Hospice in order for you to access counselling.
