As we have faced a number of difficulties with our Tree-cycle scheme, and we wanted to bring you an update.

We have been working very closely with their volunteers to collect all registered Christmas trees over the weekend and into this week. We are continuing with the collections this week due to unforeseen circumstances, and would like to thank everyone who has supported us through the scheme for their patience.

Due to lockdown and weather conditions we have had a few obstacles in our place, meaning the collections are delayed. Originally our collection dates were between the 8-10th of January, but we are extending this throughout this week. We would like to apologise for any delays.

To be able to do this Middlesbrough Council are supporting us. They will be collecting trees in the Middlesbrough Council postcodes. We are very grateful for the support they are showing and the assistance they have provided.  If your postcode is within the Middlesbrough Council area, please can you leave your Christmas tree next to your bin on waste collection day.

If you are not part of the Middlesbrough Council area, please do not worry, we are on our way to you, and all trees should be collected by Friday 15th January.

Please can you ensure your tree is visible and easily accessible for our volunteers to collect in a COVID safe way.

We have had a fantastic response to the Christmas tree collection so far, but unforeseen circumstances have worked against us, causing a delay. The scheme this year has raised over £29,000. This is over double what we raised last year with £13,552.  Therefore, we would like to thank everyone that has supported us with this scheme.

The support we have received has been amazing. We would also like to thank the amazing authorities that has supported us with this, Middlesbrough Council, Redcar and Cleveland Council and Stockton Council. As well as the companies that have provided us services, that we could not do this without;

  • Northgate Vehicle Hire: Providing the hire of the vans that we will be collecting the Christmas trees.
  • Erimus Insurance Brokers:  Insuring the vans that are collecting the Christmas trees.
  • Scott Bros: Providing space for us to dispose of the trees and recycling them safely for us.
  • On a Roll Sandwich Company: Providing our amazing volunteers with lunches every day to make sure they are fuelled to be able to continue.

Without the support of local companies, authorities and the community we would not be able to do what we do through changing lives across Teesside, and creating memories that last a lifetime.
