Thank You Nationwide

On Thursday 1^st August Teesside Hospice welcomed Lisa Alderson and Heather White, Financial Planning Managers from Nationwide, to come and see the specialist equipment that their support has enabled us to buy.

An incredible £5,000 has been donated as part of Nationwide Building Society’s colleague funding programme, through which employees are able to support important causes. Nationwide are active members of the community, and employees are encouraged to give back through volunteering on their citizenship days.

Lisa and Heather chose to spend their citizen days at Teesside Hospice last year, as Lisa has a personal connection with the hospice through her Dad, George Rex Niblock, who was cared for by Teesside Hospice.

Lisa said: “My dear dad, George, sadly passed away last June from brain cancer. The hospice provided my dad with a comfortable environment in his final days and he received 24 hour specialist support when he needed it the most.

“The hospice’s core values are to deliver high quality, compassionate care to patients through the course of their illness and end of life care. Their primary concern is always to treat patients with dignity and respect and thee fantastic care my dad received, like all other patients, will stay with me forever.”

Andrea Clark, the Director of Patient Services, explained during the visit that the funds donated by Nationwide will be used to purchase a second Flexmort Cooling System for the Hospice Inpatient Unit. The cold blanket system will allow families to spend time with their loved ones, after they pass away, in a dignified way.
