Every year thousands of people from across the region remember their loved ones at Christmas time by dedicating a star on the Teesside Hospice Light up a Life tree.

The annual Light up a Life appeal – supported by Colin McGinley Independent Family Funeral Service – is an opportunity to remember someone special and support Teesside Hospice by making a dedication and placing it on the Light up a Life tree in exchange for a donation.

Due to the popularity of this special appeal, in November, Teesside Hospice unveiled an additional Light up a Life tree located near Tesco, in the Parkway Shopping Centre, Coulby Newham, for the third year – meaning that even more local people can place a dedication on the tree and remember their loved ones in this special way.

Kim Bradley, Senior Community and Events Fundraiser at Teesside Hospice, said “For many, the festive period is a time when loved ones are missed more than ever. We are so pleased to have the support of the Parkway Shopping Centre for the third year running, meaning that even more local people can take part in this very special appeal.

“We are delighted that in the first three weeks of this appeal, over £850 has been donated at our Light up a Life tree in the Parkway Centre, this is more than 4 times the amount that had been donated this time last year. We are so grateful to our local community for this amazing support and hope local people will continue to support this appeal.”

Zoe France, Centre Manager, Parkway Shopping Centre said, “I am delighted to be supporting the Light up a Life campaign, Teesside Hospice is a local based charity that is close to the hearts of many of our shoppers and the funds raised will make such a difference to the local community”.

Teesside Hospice’s Light up a Life tree will be on display in the Parkway Centre until 2nd January. If you would like to place a Light up a Life dedication, simply visit the Parkway Shopping Centre, or one of the other tree’s located in the Hillstreet Shopping Centre, on display until 18th December, or Teesside Crematorium, on display until 2nd January.

All donations will go directly towards helping Teesside Hospice provide vital care to patients and their families.

Supporters of the campaign are invited to attend a special Light up a Life Service held at St Barnabas Church, Linthorpe at 7pm on Wednesday 19th December, where the tree will be blessed and loved ones will be remembered.
