Meet Kerry, our amazing volunteer who shares why volunteering means so much to her.

“My name’s Kerry, and I’ve been volunteering for Teesside Hospice for just 5 weeks now. I’ve been volunteering in both the reception and the In-Patient Unit, as well as helping out at the Lymphoedema reception too.

Over the past few weeks I’ve been taking calls and messages, greeting people, helping them sign in at reception. In IPU, I’ve been helping create packs for families and giving my support.

Coming here, it’s not what you would expect it to be like. I’ve had a lovely experience so far, and everyone is so friendly and happy to be here.

I wanted to help out at a hospice, and as soon as I saw that Teesside Hospice were looking for volunteers, I couldn’t wait. I wanted to give something back, and to know that I’m helping out is great. I lost my son, and to come here I can take my mind off things. It helps me as much as I help them.”

Whatever your reason for choosing to volunteer for us, we couldn’t do what we do without your support.
