An amazing afternoon of ballet and having fun...

We've had an amazing afternoon of ballet with Jo Laud and our Neurology Group at our Day Hospice.

Jo Laud, from Laud Ballet School, visited Teesside Hospice to deliver the adapted ballet class to patients living with motor neurone disease and Parkinson's disease.

Patients, staff and volunteers came together to enjoy the music, learn ballet techniques, do some light exercise and most importantly, have fun!

Jo said: "This class is all about doing your best, releasing endorphins and feeling accomplished. We have so much fun, it's great to see everyone interacting too. This class has grown out of an over 55's class I do, and I'm so pleased to be able to use my skills in this way."

Anne Hall, Nurse at Teesside Hospice, invited Jo to visit Teesside Hospice after watching Jo's class recently. Anne said: "As soon as I watched Jo's class, I knew it would be great for us to invite her along to Teesside Hospice. A lot of our patients at our Neurology Group feel excluded because of their condition and this class is so important for the social aspect and meeting like minded people. There are also a lot of benefits that come with doing exercise and encouraging movement to music. It's fantastic to see patients enjoying themselves and having fun."

Thank you Jo, we had a great afternoon, with lots of laughs and we're looking forward to the next class in August.
