By accepting a Great North Run charity place through Teesside Hospice, you agree to the following terms and conditions.
Great North Run charity places are offered by Teesside Hospice for £25 per participant. The £25 place fee is non-refundable once your place has been confirmed, including if you subsequently cancel or are unable to take part.
The cost to Teesside Hospice of providing a Great North Run charity place is approximately £155 per participant. Our charity places are therefore offered on the understanding that participants commit to fundraising for Teesside Hospice.
Minimum Fundraising Commitment
Every participant accepting a Teesside Hospice Great North Run place agrees to a minimum sponsorship target of £350.
Your fundraising makes a direct difference to people and families across Teesside and helps us continue providing vital care, comfort and support to those who need it.
Cancelling Your Place
If you are no longer able to take part in the Great North Run, please notify the Teesside Hospice Events Team as soon as possible, no later than Tuesday 1st June 2027.
Any cancelled place is non-refundable, including the £25 registration fee.
Where possible, we encourage participants who can no longer take part to consider transferring their place to another runner, subject to the conditions below.
Transferring Your Place
Your Teesside Hospice charity place may be transferred to another runner before Teesside Hospice's confirmation cut-off date in the last week of June.
Any transfer must be agreed with Teesside Hospice before the new runner takes the place. The new participant will be required to provide their details and agree to Teesside Hospice's terms and conditions, including the £350 minimum fundraising commitment.
Places cannot be transferred after Teesside Hospice's confirmation cut-off date unless agreed by the Events Team in exceptional circumstances.
Deferring Your Place
If you are unable to take part in the Great North Run, you may be able to defer your place in line with the Great North Run organisers' own deferral process.
Teesside Hospice will accept requests to defer a charity place from the organisers' cut-off date in July until the last working day before the event, subject to the Great North Run organisers allowing the deferral.
A deferral must be discussed and agreed with Teesside Hospice. Deferring your place does not remove your fundraising commitment. The charity place fee of £25 is payable the following year.
If You Are Unable to Complete the Run
We understand that circumstances can change and that injury, illness or other unforeseen circumstances may prevent you from completing the Great North Run.
If you are unable to complete the event, you remain committed to raising the £350 minimum sponsorship for Teesside Hospice through other fundraising activity.
This could include taking on another personal challenge, organising a community fundraiser such as Tea for Teesside, holding a fundraising event, or another agreed fundraising activity.
A member of the Teesside Hospice Fundraising Team will work with you to provide the fundraising materials, advice, support and ideas you need to help you fulfil your fundraising commitment.
Why Your Commitment Matters
Teesside Hospice receives limited statutory funding and relies heavily on the generosity of our supporters and community to continue providing our services.
The cost to Teesside Hospice of providing each Great North Run charity place is approximately £155. With limited charity places available, it is important that we protect the income we expect to generate from this event so that we can continue to provide care, comfort and support to people and families across Teesside.
By accepting a charity place, you are not simply securing a place in the Great North Run — you are making a commitment to help Teesside Hospice raise vital funds.
We understand that circumstances can change, and we will always aim to work with our participants fairly and reasonably. If you have concerns about your place or your fundraising commitment, please contact a member of the Teesside Hospice Fundraising Team as soon as possible.
