Trading Company

Teesside Hospice Trading Ltd was established in 1986 to support the activities of Teesside Hospice Care Foundation through the generation of income. This began initially by charitable trading and fundraising activity, and has developed today to include a Hospice lottery.

The operation of the Trading Company departments is performed with the support of over 600 volunteers, fulfilling roles such as administration and shop assistants, fundraisers and drivers.

Why set up a Trading Company?

• We are a Subsidiary company of Teesside Hospice Care Foundation.
• We can make the most of the taxation system (such as being able to claim back VAT and tax on covenant).
• We are open to public scrutiny and have separate accounts regulated by the Charity Commission and by Companies House.

Our Strategic Aim

It is Teesside Hospice Trading's aim to ensure the financial security of Teesside Hospice Care Foundation by bridging the shortfall between operating costs and local Primary Care Trust income.

To do this, we need to develop and maintain existing streams of income and formulate ways of achieving new streams of income.
