Marion talks to us about how the Hospice has helped over the last two years, and how her opinion on Hospice care has changed.

"The impression I got about Hospice's, you went there at the end of your life, and you died there."

Marion first came to the Hospice two years ago, to get help with her medication. Through the two years she has experienced the work the Hospice is doing at the in-patient unit and Wellbeing Centre. Meeting new people, and getting involved with activities. She speaks about the community we have created at the Hospice and how the staff make everyone feel welcomed.

"The nurses are wonderful, A lot of them still know me. As soon as I came in they were 'Hiya Marion, how you doing?'. They were straight there, you know, it was lovely. They had remembered me."

As detailed by the World Health Organisation, the hospice is their to support families who've been affected by a terminal illness, through physical, psychological, social and spiritual support. Increasing the quality of life of everyone, to be able to create experience and memories that last a lifetime.

We are continued to do this over the pandemic, to make it as easy and comfortable as possible, whilst following government guidelines.

"You can still have a visitor, which is really good."

Marion also understands how important donations are to us. With the continued cancellation of our fundraising events and the closure of or shops through lockdown 2.0, we are set to lose £95,000 in shops ales this month alone. This means we have a two week gap in funding as we enter December, and have lost money we desperately need to fund out vital care to local people affected by terminal illness.

We have managed to keep the door to the hospice open throughout the pandemic but we need your support to make sure we can keep caring this Christmas.

To find out more about Marion's story please watch the video below. Help us keep caring this Christmas and make a donation today. Thank you for all your support so far.
