Help & support for patients

Teesside Hospice Care Foundation based in Linthorpe, Middlesbrough, was established in 1982 to enhance the lives of local people suffering from life limiting illnesses in the Teesside region free of charge. The Hospice cares for over 3,000 individuals each year.

The majority of our care to patients and their families focuses upon pain and symptom control, but we also provide respite care to allow relatives a break whilst caring for their loved ones.

The services offered by Teesside Hospice include:

  • 10 beds for Inpatient Care
  • Edward & Glenis Guy day care centre based at Teesside Hospice Care Foundation facilitating 16 guests per day
  • Adult Bereavement Counselling Services
  • Children’s and Young Adults ‘Forget-Me-Not’ Bereavement Counselling Service
  • Regular Outpatient Clinics
  • Lymphoedema Clinics
  • Home & Hospital visits
  • Working in partnership with specialist Nurses

Guests can also enjoy facilities such as our art and craft room, hairdressing salon, Jacuzzi bath and complementary therapies.

How are we funded?

Most people are surprised to learn that our annual running costs are in excess of £2.2 million. We receive in the region of one third of these costs from the local NHS and must therefore raise approximately £4,400 each and every day of the year from our own resources, most of which is generated by the activities of our Trading Company.

Who do we care for?

Individuals are cared for within Teesside Hospice when they are suffering from any progressive disease such as Advanced Cancer, Motor Neurone Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Heart Disease, and other life limiting illnesses.
